Our Mission is to develop the sport of biathlon through the development of athletes, coaches and officials.

Developing Athletes

Our biathlon events support the development of athletes from the club to the international level by providing consistent, quality competition experience. From our demo days and recreational biathlon series categories to hosting provincial, national and continental competitions, we provide 15-20 days of biathlon events each year, both in the summer and the winter.

Our events also promote recreational participation in biathlon, with demo day events and recreational categories in our biathlon series providing the opportunity for anyone to try biathlon for their first time or to participate regularly in fun and welcoming biathlon activities.

Developing Coaches

The Whistler Biathlon Society supports the development of biathlon coaches through the organization of National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) courses and by providing opportunities to gain coaching experience during training and competitions.

With its four Learning Facilitators and two Evaluators, the Whistler Biathlon Society can organize NCCP courses, informal coach training/mentoring sessions, and evaluations for Community Coaching and Competition-Introduction. These courses and evaluations can be organized throughout British Columbia and beyond.

Coach development opportunities organized by the Whistler Biathlon Society will be listed on our Event Calendar.

If you would like to hire a Whistler Biathlon Society learning facilitator to run a coaching course or an evaluator for a coaching certification, please contact us at info@whistlerbiathlon.com.

Developing Officials

The Whistler Biathlon Society supports the development of biathlon officials through the organization of Biathlon Canada officials courses and by providing opportunities to gain officiating experience during competitions.

Our instructors can provide officials courses throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor and beyond. To inquire about organizing an officials course, please contact info@whistlerbiathlon.com.

Details regarding officials development opportunities hosted by the Whistler Biathlon Society will be posted to our Event Calendar.

Hosting biathlon events and is central to the Whistler Biathlon Society’s mission. Developing athletes and hosting biathlon events requires a large base of coaches, officials, volunteers, and fans. To support this mission we also organize courses and other development opportunities for coaches and officials.
